After learning of the demise of Alwyn Nightingale, who had been a supporter during his entire life, our hearts are filled with tremendous sorrow. He had been loyal to us throughout his entire life. He was 92 years old then. In his capacity as a fan of the Spireites, Alwyn has been a fan ever since he was eight years old. He recalls the enormous crowds that gathered at Saltergate in the days leading up to the war.
In addition to following the career of Gerry Clarke, with whom he played on the “Blue Fly” at Barrow Hill, Ray Middleton was his favorite player. He also followed the career of Gerry Clarke.
Additionally, he watched Ray Middleton perform since he was interested in it. Furthermore, during his entire life, he was concerned with Gerry Clarke’s professional endeavors.
