An obituary for Tommy Highers, who passed away in the state of Michigan, is included below, along with the cause of death that was cited for his passing:What exactly are the events that transpired with him, and what transpired with him? Regarding Tommy, the most recent information that has been received from various sources Yesterday, we were informed that Tommy is not responding to any of the meds that he is now taking, and that he now has a bigger amount of cancer cells than he did when he first started his treatment.
This information was provided to us. The sequence of events has taken a turn that is exceedingly terrible. Our objective is not to find a treatment that would cure this particular form of cancer; rather, we want to work towards reducing the rate at which the disease is progressing. This is due to the fact that there is now no medication that can be administered for this specific form of cancer. In addition to the fact that I am aware that many of you will be as sad as we are as a family, I am also aware that you will be upset.
I am aware of both of these things. These two facts are not hidden from me at all. It is time for us to make a decision regarding whether or not to undergo chemotherapy treatment, which is exceedingly poisonous and, as a result, dangerous, or whether or not to try with a new medication that is useful for some children but not for others! Both of these options are quite hazardous and deadly.
In spite of the fact that there is a glimmer of optimism surrounding the new treatment, there is also a great deal of realism in the awareness that Tommy will not have the opportunity to live the long life that he intends to enjoy for the rest of his life.
This is something that he is very concerned about. In light of the fact that there will be no classes scheduled for the following weekend, we respectfully request that you be patient with us while we strive to assess what the future holds.
Thank you for your understanding. We are thankful to you for having taken the time to comprehend. Although we are aware that many of you may like to offer support and other types of aid, the fact of the matter is that there are no words that will lessen the suffering that we are experiencing. However, we are aware that your thoughts are with us and that you are thinking about us.
