Randy Lee Burge, 63, of Interlachen, left this world on December 8, 2023, at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Florida. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Randy had been a resident of Putnam County since 1969, having moved from Flagler Beach. His journey through life was marked by resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of community.
Randy’s early years were shaped by his attendance at Palatka South High School, where he likely formed connections that lasted a lifetime. His professional path led him to a fulfilling career as a carpenter in the construction industry, a testament to his hard work and skill. His contributions spanned both Dade City and Putnam County, leaving a tangible mark on the landscapes of these communities.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Randy was a man of faith, identifying as a Christian, and his passion for the Florida Gators reflected his enthusiasm for sports. He embraced life with a sense of joy, finding solace in both spiritual beliefs and the camaraderie of being a devoted Gator fan.
Randy’s life was not without its share of hardships, as he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Burge, along with two brothers, Rex Burge and Steve Burge, a brother-in-law, Bobby Stevens, and nieces Michelle Burge and Renee Stevens. Their memories undoubtedly linger as a cherished part of his life story.
Despite the challenges, Randy leaves behind a legacy of love and companionship. He is survived by his companion, Linda Shurcock of Dade City, a sister, Cheryl Stevens of Interlachen, a sister-in-law, Shannon Burge of Palatka, along with a nephew and several nieces and cousins who will carry his memory forward.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to be directed to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, emphasizing the importance of supporting institutions that provide comfort and care in times of need.
