It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of a beloved soul, Merle Hinkle Green. As we mourn her departure, let us unite in prayer, surrounding her family with love and support during this challenging time.
Merle Hinkle Green, aged 94, peacefully joined the Lord on December 13, 2023. Born on March 5, 1929, in Holmes County, Florida, to the late Sam and Ora Urquhart, Merle’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and faith. She is now reunited with her loved ones who preceded her, including her husband Lawrence Green, brother Jim Urquhart, sister Helen McIntosh, bonus daughter Beverly Forbes, and the father of her children, James Hinkle.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister Ruth Daniel from North Carolina, three children, Teresa Poston (Phil) of Clarksville, TN, William Hinkle (Paula) of Haines City, FL, Tamesia Irwin (Ed) of Winter Haven, FL, as well as Larry Green (Helen) of Lake Butler, FL, and Pamela Waters (Jerry) of Lake Hamilton, FL. Merle’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation to honor Merle’s life will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Village Church of God in Winter Haven. The memorial service will follow, officiated by Pastor Josh Hollingsworth and Pastor Dale Broom. Merle will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery in Winter Haven, FL.
