Larry LaPorte Obituary, A Remarkable Life Remembered

The world bids farewell to Larry Lee LaPorte, a man whose life spanned 90 years of cherished moments, accomplishments, and deep connections. Larry, a former resident of Philadelphia, PA, Hennessey, OK, and a proud Myrtle Beach, South Carolina resident, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born on July 6, 1933, in Hennessey, OK, he was the son of the late Gerald and Ella LaPorte.

Larry’s journey was marked by a profound commitment to his country. He served with pride in the US Army, earning an honorable discharge and leaving behind a legacy of duty, honor, and sacrifice. His passion for various pursuits added color to his life; Larry found joy in landscaping, baseball, University of Oklahoma football, and, most notably, golf.

Larry’s life was further enriched by his 30-year marriage to his beloved wife, Darlene Trimble. Their union was a testament to enduring love and shared experiences. In the tapestry of family, Larry is survived by two sons, Kerry and Kerby, along with sisters Deannie and Connie, and brothers Curt, Pat, and Charlie. His memory will be carried forward by many nieces and nephews. Larry faced the pain of loss as well, having been preceded in death by his daughter Kyla, sister Juanita, and brothers Ed and Richard.

A celebration of Larry’s life will take place on Thursday, December 21, at 1 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike. The Memorial Service will commence at 2 PM at the funeral home. While interment will be private at the family’s convenience, the family welcomes relatives and friends to share in Larry’s Life Celebration.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Larry’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), an organization dedicated to addressing a cause that may have touched Larry’s life.

As we reflect on Larry Lee LaPorte’s life, let us remember the joy he brought to those around him and find solace in the memories that endure.
