Freddy Stringfellow Obituary, A Tribute To A Creative Soul

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Freddy Dale Stringfellow, a beloved member of the Laurel community. Freddy, 85, peacefully departed on December 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on October 30, 1938, he dedicated his life to family, work, and community service. Freddy was retired from Walker Memorial Co., where he contributed years of hard work and dedication. His commitment to excellence and his warm-hearted nature left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Stringfellow, as well as his parents Lonzie and Mildred Stringfellow, and two brothers and two sisters. Despite these losses, Freddy leaves behind a legacy of resilience and strength. Surviving him is his devoted wife of 66 years, Ernestine Stringfellow, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. He is also survived by his son, Mark Stringfellow, and daughter-in-law Lisa, as well as his brother Ricky Stringfellow and sister-in-law Valerie.

His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Courtney Jones (Jamey), Colby Prince (Lakyn), Colby Stringfellow (Bailey), and Keri Dale Smith (Hunter), along with nine great-grandchildren. Freddy’s memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation to celebrate Freddy’s life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, MS. The service will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Bro. Danny Stringer and Dr. Dave Moran.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Pineview Baptist Church, 308 Magnolia Rd., Laurel, MS 39443-7732. This act of generosity will honor Freddy’s memory and support the community he held dear. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Freddy with gratitude for the joy and warmth he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
