Adelaide was the site of a terrible vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon, killing 16-year-old Benjy Weenink of Urrbrae Agricultural High School. The news of his sudden death has devastated us. The Toyota HiLux allegedly slid off Main South Rd in Second Valley at about 5:15 p.m. Because five of the passengers were teenagers, emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident to provide assistance.
Benjy, a student at Urrbrae Agricultural High School, bravely battled his injuries before passing away. His loved ones are mourning his loss. His untimely death has left our community in a state of profound grief.
Three people were sent to Flinders Medical Centre with non-life-threatening injuries. One of them was a 17-year-old driver from Dover Gardens. The other two were females, aged 15 and 16, and a guy, aged 16.
Guests at the Second Valley Caravan Park just served to exacerbate an awful situation. Main South Rd was temporarily closed as the Major Crash police thoroughly investigated the accident.
The road is clear once more. An inquiry is currently underway to determine whether the strong, gusting winds that swept across the Fleurieu Peninsula on that tragic Sunday had any role in the unfortunate event. Investigators are attempting to determine what happened, despite the fact that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
With Benjy’s death, the 106th life lost on South Australian roads has been tragically added to the list, profoundly impacting our community. His untimely demise has forever altered our course of events, and we will never forget the hope and promise he held.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Benjy’s family and friends as well as the whole Urrbrae Agricultural High School community during this difficult time. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy bring solace to those who have lost loved ones.
