Russell Greenlee Obituary, A Life Well-Lived In Remembrance Of Russell Greenlee

Russell E. Greenlee, a valued member of the community, died away peacefully on December 3, 2023, at the age of 92. Anthon, Iowa, is in mourning. Russell left an indelible mark on this tight-knit community, changing the lives of numerous people with his constant presence and contributions. Russell, who was born in Anthon, was a shining example of commitment and service. He was a dedicated soldier who proudly served his nation,

a dedication that included membership in the American Legion’s McNiff Post No. 389. His commitment to upholding the memories of his fellow military members was unshakable. On Monday, December 11, 2023, the community will come together at the United Methodist Church of Anthon to honor Russell’s life. The funeral ceremony will be presided over by respected community member Shirley Nelson, a lay speaker, at 10:30 a.m. Following the burial, Russell’s service will be honored with Military Rites at Oak Hill Cemetery.

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., friends and neighbors are welcome to pay their respects at the viewing at the United Methodist Church. At 4:00 p.m., there will be a prayer service. The community is welcome to gather at this time to share memories and offer support to one another.

Russell E. Greenlee left a legacy of community spirit, friendship, and unselfish devotion. Russell’s influence will continue to reverberate for years to come as Anthon bids farewell to a beloved member.
