November 12, 2023 saw the death of Las Vegas resident Lyle D. Larson. Lyle was born on May 23, 1948 in Dalton, Nebraska to Leon and Velma Larson, the second of three sons, Gary being the first born, Richard being the youngest.
Lyle often brags about being the lone student in a one-room schoolhouse north of Potter, NE. After graduating from Potter High School in 1966, he attended Scottsbluff Junior College for one year. He then studied computer science at a Denver business school.
In October 1968 Lyle enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served for six years, being honorably discharged with the rank of Seargeant First Class. He worked for his family firm, Larson Motors Inc. in Sterling, CO, until his 2005 retirement.
His love of old vehicles was obvious. Over time, he restored and maintained multiple automobiles, calling them his “babies”. Lyle never met strangers. His usual response was “that’s just a friend I haven’t met yet”. His contagious laugh, sense of humor, and love for family and friends are unmatched.
His parents, Leon and Velma Larson, and brother Richard died before him. He leaves behind his wife, Judy, brother Gary (Cindy), daughter Shawna Larson-Hernandez, grandson Tony Larson (Ashley), granddaughter Cassaundra DeMaria (Diego), great grandson Giovanni, and grandson Donovan Hernandez. Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, will bury Lyle with military honors in spring. Celebration of Life is being held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at The Sterling Elks Lodge at 1pm. Friends and Family are invited.
