Greg Ogard Obituary, A Life Lived With Passion And Purpose

In the embrace of sorrow, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Dr. Greg Ogard, whose life was an extraordinary tapestry of talents, service, and compassion. Born on March 10, 1945, he peacefully concluded his earthly journey on December 2, 2023. A man of diverse interests and accomplishments, Dr. Ogard’s legacy is etched in his dedicated service to both his country and community.

A distinguished Vietnam Veteran, Dr. Ogard’s commitment extended beyond military service. As a Charter Member of Visalia County Center Rotary, he served two terms as President of the Rotary Club of Coalinga and later became an Assistant District Governor of Rotary District 5230. His impact reverberated in the establishment of Valley Oak SPCA, where his influence and dedication to animals and their well-being were profound. Notably, he served as the trusted veterinarian for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, leaving an indelible mark on the natural world he cherished.

Recognized twice as Visalia Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the Year, Dr. Ogard’s accolades were a testament to his skill, devotion to animals, and thoughtfulness towards their owners. In the spirit of his benevolence, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to Valley Oak SPCA or FoodLink for Tulare County.

A celebration of Dr. Ogard’s vibrant life is scheduled for March, aligning with what would have been his 78th birthday. This event aims to honor his adventures, stories, and the lasting impact he had on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family encourages friends and acquaintances to share their cherished “Greg stories,” as they reflect the vast spectrum of his experiences, always infused with laughter and wonderment.

Acknowledging the challenges of Dr. Ogard’s battle with dementia and his subsequent hospice care, the family expresses gratitude for the overwhelming love received. They eagerly anticipate the celebration of a life well-lived and the opportunity to collectively cherish the memories of the man who touched so many hearts.
