With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a cherished soul, Úna Binsack (née McNelis), a beacon of strength and a central figure in the close-knit community of Ballymore, Teelin. Úna peacefully passed away under the compassionate care of the nurses and staff at Killybegs Community Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and community spirit.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Florian, Úna’s departure leaves a void that will be felt by her extended family, friends, and the wider community. She is survived by her sister-in-law Peggy, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of relatives who were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Úna’s remains will be received at St. Columba’s Church, Carrick, on Monday, December 4th, at 7 pm. Friends, family, and community members will gather to pay their respects as she repose overnight. On Tuesday morning, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, offering an opportunity for the community to join together in mourning and remembrance. Following the Mass, Úna will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery, where she will find eternal peace beside her beloved husband Florian.
A significant part of the community’s fabric, Úna and Florian owned and operated the Rusty Mackerel in Teelin for many years. Their establishment was not just a business but a gathering place for the community—a testament to their dedication to fostering connections and creating a sense of belonging.
Úna’s impact extended far beyond the walls of her home and the Rusty Mackerel. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her, and the community is left to honor her memory by continuing the sense of camaraderie and support she championed throughout her life.
May Úna Binsack find eternal rest, and may her family, friends, and the community she served find solace in the memories of a life well-lived and a spirit that will forever endure in their hearts. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.
