Mary Cleave Obituary Annapolis MD, Mary Cleave Has Died

 Dr. Mary Louise Cleave, a distinguished NASA astronaut and veteran of two space flights, STS-61-B Atlantis and STS-30 Atlantis, passed away on November 27, 2023, in Annapolis, MD. Born on February 5, 1947, in Southampton, NY, to Howard and Barbara Cleave, Mary leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond her impressive career.

Mary’s contributions to space exploration were marked by her participation in the STS-61- B Atlantis and STS-30 Atlantis missions,

where she showcased her exceptional skills and dedication to advancing our understanding of the cosmos. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary’s family and friends will fondly remember her for her infectious laugh, brilliant mind, and compassionate heart.

Survived by her sisters, Trudy Carter and Bobbie Cleave (Gordon), as well as nephews Howard Carter and Skyler Bosworth, Mary’s impact reaches not only into the vastness of space but also into the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
