Surrounded by her loved ones, Lucille Madeline Boyce Westmoreland, 86, of King, North Carolina, died away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at SECU Hospice House in Yadkinville. The late Cecil and Edith Norvell Boyce welcomed Mrs. Westmoreland into the world on October 25, 1937, in St. Albans, West Virginia. She was a housewife who took tremendous pleasure in taking care of her loved ones, her neighbors, and her friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, memaw, and wife.
Lucille enjoyed sewing, helping her church family at Mountain View Baptist Church, gardening, fishing, and seeing animals and birds. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Mary Boyce West, Genevie Hall Cagle, Raymond Boyce, and Wanda Boyce Barker, as well as her first husband Donald Burge and grandson Derek Burge.
Teddy Westmoreland, her husband, two sons, David Burge (Donna) and Tim Burge (Ginger); a daughter, Sandra Linnane (Edward Glick); two stepdaughters, Sonia Boles and Serena Sharpe (Brent); eight grandchildren, David, Jonathan and Annie Rose,
Ragan and Blake Burge, Zora Linnane, and Orion and Maxwell Johnson; and several nieces and nephews are among the family members who will be in attendance on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Slate Funeral Home. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 3:00 PM, there will be a burial ceremony at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jerry King and Rev. Jim Saul will preside.
