James Troy Hackworth, affectionately known as “Bimbo,” left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His passing on November 30, 2023, at his residence in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, leaves a void in the lives of many. Born on July 9, 1954, to the late Troy and Imogene Hubbard Hackworth, Bimbo’s life was one defined by warmth, kindness, and a contagious sense of humor. For three decades, Bimbo called Briarwest Blvd in Houston, Texas, his home before returning to his roots in Prestonsburg.
In his 69 years, he crafted a legacy of love and joy that touched the lives of his family, friends, and the communities he was a part of.
Survived by his three brothers, Richard, Charles, and Bill, all residing in Prestonsburg, and two sisters, Alice Ann Sipple of Beautyville and Donna Dyer of Prestonsburg, Bimbo leaves behind a cherished family whose bond was strengthened by love and shared memories.
Bimbo’s vibrant spirit, quick wit, and laughter will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. His presence brought joy, his stories sparked laughter, and his kindness left an enduring impression.
While a memorial service to honor Bimbo’s life will be announced by the family at a later date, his legacy continues through the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask for donations to be made to the Middle Creek Food Pantry at 438 Richardson Branch, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
This gesture reflects Bimbo’s compassionate nature, extending his legacy of kindness and care to those in need within the community he held dear.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Bimbo for the joy he brought into our lives, the laughter he shared, and the love he bestowed upon us. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
As we navigate this loss, let us honor Bimbo’s life by continuing to spread the joy, kindness, and humor that he so effortlessly shared with the world. May his legacy inspire us to embrace life with the same warmth and love that he exuded every day. Rest in peace, Bimbo. Your laughter echoes in our hearts, and your spirit will forever brighten our lives.
