The tragic death of Staff Sergeant Jacob Galliher, who was born and raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in an Air Force Osprey crash near Japan has caused shockwaves to go throughout his hometown and throughout the Commonwealth.
My heartfelt thoughts go out to his bereaved family, particularly his wife and two boys, as well as to the close-knit town of Lanesborough, Massachusetts, which is mourning the death of one of its own.Staff Sergeant Galliher was not only a courageous and devoted member of the military,
but he was also a young man who was intelligent and bright, and he served his country with courage and honor. Because of his premature passing, there is a hole that cannot be fully expressed via words. When we think of him, we are reminded of the sacrifices that our male and female service members make in order to safeguard our liberties.
I am dedicated to pursuing answers surrounding the troublesome history of the aircraft that was involved in this unfortunate tragedy, and I will be urging the military to take action in order to improve the safety of our pilots.
We must conduct an investigation and resolve any concerns that are associated with the Osprey in order to forestall the occurrence of disasters of a similar nature in the future. Staff Sgt. Jacob Galliher was a hero who gave his all in service to his nation, and the whole Commonwealth is mourning his passing.
It is my hope that his memory may serve as a source of fortitude and motivation for his family and the community during this trying time.
