On February 15, 2011, Hillary Elizabeth Brown abruptly went away. On October 20, 1971, Hillary came into this world in Santa Monica, California. She completed her education in West Los Angeles, graduating from John Thomas Dye School in 1983, Marlborough School in 1989, and Middlebury College in 1993.
Hillary finished her master’s degree in art history in 1996 from Columbia University, her Juris Doctor degree in 2000 from UCLA Law School, and she was pursuing a doctorate in art history at the University of Southern California.
The Getty Research Institute’s Department of Special Collections employed Hillary as a collections cataloguer, and she also served as an intern for Charles F. Eick, a federal magistrate judge. Hillary and her husband, a musician, had a deep appreciation for the arts. Visiting her folks in Mammoth Lakes, California, was her favorite way to spend time outside.
Traveling to San Francisco to see her sister, brother-in-law, and, most notably, her little nephew was something Hillary thoroughly appreciated. Lyme disease was first detected in 2006, but she contracted it in 1999. Her illness treatment was coming to a close.
The following people will mourn Hillary’s passing: her husband Phil Curtis, her parents Gary and Lolly Brown, her sister Lindsay, her brother-in-law Sasha Mazo, her nephew Luca Mazo, Hillary’s parents-in-law Peggy and Erle Curtis, and a host of other dear relatives and friends. Beloved stepmother to Spring Sepa and David and Cindy Sepa. River, Wiley, Joshua, William, and Alexander all count you as a beloved grandparent. Occupation: sister of Howard Brown and Myrna Foley (Jim). Everyone who knew and loved Hilary will miss her deeply.
