Alice Evans Obituary, The “Christmas Card Movie” Actor Alice Evans Has Died

On May 3, 2023, Alice Frazer Evans, who was 83 years old and a persistent campaigner for human rights, passed away in a peaceful manner with her family by her side. She was an educator, author, and instructor. Emmett and Mary Jane Frazer welcomed their daughter Alice into the world on June 19, 1939, in Mobile, Alabama. At the time of Alice’s passing, her husband, the Reverend Dr. Robert Evans, had already passed away. Alice earned her undergraduate degrees from Agnes Scott College and the University of Edinburgh. She then went on to earn her graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the Goethe Institute in Berlin.

Alice and Bob were the co-founders of the Plowshares Institute, which is located in Simsbury, Connecticut. This organization is committed to the transformation of conflict into peace via the cultivation of peace. In addition to being dedicated husband and wife, parents to three children, and coworkers at work, Bob and Alice developed a collaboration that was both distinctive and dynamic. They had a shared faith-based objective to promote peace and social justice through mediation. Bob and Alice were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by members of the South African Parliament in honor of their efforts to bring an end to apartheid in South Africa by peaceful means.

The nomination was accompanied by letters of support from government and community leaders from all over the world. In addition to being the author and editor of scores of publications, Alice was the winner of various prizes and distinctions, including honorary doctorates from Hartford Seminary and Makassar University in Indonesia. She also led traveling seminars throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, and North America. Alice was not just an exceptional underwater diver but also a fantastic gardener throughout her life.

After receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in her later years, Alice took part in a groundbreaking research project at the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit, which aimed to identify a treatment or cure for the condition.

Alice was a devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, and the loss of her will be keenly felt by people and communities located both close by and further away.

Alice is survived by her children Mellinda Yocum (George) of Devon, Pennsylvania, Judith Evans Smith of New York, New York, and Allen Evans (Heidi) of Bend, Oregon. Her sister Carol Suffich (William) of Mobile, Alabama is also among those who are responsible for her passing.

In addition, she is survived by her six grandkids, namely Zachary Yocum, Samantha Yocum, William Yocum, Evan Smith, Jackson Smith, and Tucker Evans. It was her sister, Jane Bledsoe (James), who passed away before her. She was from Mobile, Alabama.
