At 6:33 in the morning on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Marcia Lynn Madlenk Giovannelli, who was 74 years old and lived in Jefferson Township, Perryopolis, died away in the comfort of her own home with her devoted family by her side. She was the daughter of Ignatz Madlenk, Jr. and Doris McCosky Madlenk, both of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and she was born on October 2, 1947 in Charleroi. The woman who was her mother-in-law, Louise Giovannelli of Perryopolis, passed away before her.
Her parents were also among those who came before her. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Vincent R. Giovannelli; her son, Jess T. Giovannelli, who resides in Perryopolis; her daughter, Rachel Hoffman, who is in Fayette City with her husband, Steve; and her grandchildren, Joshua and Madi Hoffman, who also reside in Fayette City. After receiving her degree from Salem University in West Virginia, Marcia began her career as a teacher in the Mon Valley. Subsequently, she started working for Health South Harmarville, where she held positions in both rehabilitation and administration until the facility closed.
She was a truly kind lady who loved her family and country decorating, especially for her favorite holiday, Christmas, which she made a very memorable time for two generations of her children to this very day.
She was a person who could be classified as such by everyone who knew her. Her grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as “Am,” were the most treasured belongings she owned.
She took pleasure in attending sporting events and other activities, and when she was unable to do so on a regular basis, she never missed an opportunity to watch them online.
The two of her children considered her to be their best friend and confidant right up until the moment she passed away. She was also their closest confidante. She was diagnosed with cancer on August 9, 2019, and she was given approximately six to nine months to live.
She has always been a warrior. Instead, she fought bravely until exactly three years to the day after the first diagnosis, when she eventually left this world to be with the Lord. All the way through her trip, she was driven by her unyielding determination and her unwavering belief that she should never give up.
