Jeffery “Jeff” Eric Mack, who had been suffering from an extended period of bad health, passed away on November 28, 2023, in the intensive care unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. His family was by his side at the time of his passing. The late John Mack and Thelma (Alexander) Mack were his parents, and he was their son. In spite of the fact that Jeff was born in Montreal, Quebec, he relocated to Fredericton Junction when he was very small. It was there that his uncle and aunt, Francis and Norma Alexander, brought him up after they moved there.
He joined the family that also included Steven, Karen, and James Alexander as a member of the family team. After completing his education in Fredericton Junction and Oromocto, he proceeded to begin his job as a firefighter shortly thereafter. In addition to retiring as a fire inspector, he served in the Fredericton Junction, CFB Gagetown, Oromocto, and Fredericton Fire departments. Throughout his career, he was honored for his service in a variety of ways; however, the advocacy work he did with first responders for addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) was the thing he was most proud of.
Jeff, who was also a fan of the outdoors, would ride his four-wheeler for long periods of time when he was in better health. Furthermore, he was a passionate curler who had a keen interest in the history of World War II as well as airplanes. A McCains’ frozen lasagna was never anything that he would ever refuse to eat. It is without a doubt that his children, Brennan and Eric Mack, would miss him tremendously because they were the source of his greatest pride.
Additionally, he will be fondly remembered by his mother, Lorena, as well as by Eric’s mother, Sandy; his siblings, Danae Mack, Karen Duncan (David), Steven Alexander (Bea Sainz), and James Alexander; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeff’s chosen parents, Francis and Norma Alexander, passed away before him. His parents were not the only ones who passed away before him. During the final days of his life, Jeff and his family are extremely grateful for the care that he received from first responders and all of the medical personnel, particularly the doctors and nurses who worked in the intensive care unit who attended to him.
