Jean Ray Obituary, Longtime Haverhill Public School Teacher Has Died

During this trying time, our deepest sympathies are with Jean Ray’s loved ones. It was a blessing to have Jean on staff and in the classroom at Haverhill Public Schools. Everything has changed since her death was unreported. Those lucky enough to have crossed paths with Jean will never forget her steadfast dedication to her pupils and the neighborhood. Jean grew raised in Haverhill and went on to graduate from high school in 1971 with honors.

She went back to her beloved alma mater so she could teach the next generation all she had learned. Beginning in September 1983, her unwavering dedication to her students and the community has served as her guiding concept. Jean gained fame and adoration from her students throughout her tenure as a teacher at Haverhill High School and four additional middle schools. Even outside of the classroom, Jean had a significant impact on the Haverhill Public Schools.

She remained an active member of the school community and a devoted Hillies fan even after she retired in June 2017. Regardless of the weather, Jean would anxiously anticipate the chance to cheer on her favorite Hillies from the sidelines of any sporting or theatrical event. I was taken aback by her contagious energy and constant support. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, Jean eagerly participated in numerous senior banquets and celebrations put on by the Haverhill Public Schools.

She loved nothing more than to spread joy and happiness on special occasions like the Senior Prom and Dr. Seuss Day. As a teacher and a member of the Haverhill community, Jean left an indelible impression due to her steadfast commitment to her students’ achievements. Her unfaltering dedication, kind personality, and boundless generosity will determine the lasting influence she has.

She has shown her successors how to continue the Brown & Gold heritage with unwavering dedication. Tragically, Jean’s darling daughter, Colleen Ray, who brought so much joy into her life, has passed suddenly. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, colleagues, and other Hillies whose lives she profoundly affected. Those lucky enough to have crossed paths with Jean will never forget her.

The life story of Jean Ray shows how the actions of a single individual may change the world. Many children and their families benefited greatly from her education-focused generosity and unwavering support.

Those you touched and the items you left behind will ensure that your memory, Jean, will endure. You will never be forgotten by the Haverhill community for the unfaltering love, loyalty, and commitment you have shown. Jean, we will miss you dearly.
