It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the life of Mrs. Gail Lee Jordan, who departed from this world on November 4, 2008, at the age of 57. A native of Newton Grove, Gail’s life was a testament to love, family, and unwavering faith.
Born on August 5, 1951, Gail was the daughter of Russell and Mary Lee. She graduated from Hobbton High School and, at the age of 19, entered into a loving marriage with Thomas Leon Jordan, a union that would span 38 years and be filled with joy, challenges, and enduring companionship.
Gail embarked on a fulfilling career that reflected her dedication to public service. She worked with the Department of Revenue and the Museum of History before finding a cherished role at East Carolina University. Her commitment to her work mirrored her commitment to her community.
Her spiritual journey was marked by her love for God and family. Gail began her journey of faith at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Newton Grove before transferring her membership to Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, where she was an integral part of the congregation for over 30 years.
Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Tommy Jordan, her sons, Thomas Kevin Jordan and Clarence Lee Jordan, and their loving families. Her grandchildren, Nathan Thomas Jordan, Leigh-Anna Jordan, Emily Paige Jordan, and Carter Lee Jordan, were the light of her life.
The community will gather to remember and celebrate Gail’s life on Friday at 2 pm in Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Trinity Free Will Baptist Church or University Health System Inpatient Hospice. These contributions will honor Gail’s memory by supporting the institutions that were close to her heart.
As we mourn the loss of Gail Lee Jordan, we also celebrate a life filled with love, compassion, and a profound dedication to family and faith. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
